I didn't like the fact that they wernt' going to give me a receipt when I paid cash for the room,so had to ask several times. I didnt like the size of room,as made it small around the unit, with tea and coffee, floor space,no luggage space,no draw space,no bathroom space for things, shelf above sink sloped so fell off. Lack of pillows, yet furry throws and cushions, unhygenic. Sock left under bed, been there while. Soap reused... Light from tv kept awake. Toilet squashed you next to holder. Location not as close as stated, poor if elderly or disabled for walking. No facilities suitable. Felt uncomfortable as bad had seen better days, made my back worse. Felt damp in room, clothes smell after I have come home. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Not happy.
friendly welcoming staff, and breakfast was great
We stayed in the room that had pictures of Audrey Hepburn on the wall and thought it was such a nice touch to provide a box set of her films to play if you wanted
The only small fault was that there was not enough water presure in the shower to get a good shower
Very good value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were tastefully decorated and very clean. Well worth a visit.
The only slight downside is that the walls are very thin and you can hear any noise from the neighbouring rooms.
Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly
The description of seaview was stretching it a bit.
Comfortable, clean room - more roomy than the first time we stayed at Scarborough Travel and Holiday Lodge. We were made most welcome and the car parking facilities were excellent. The location is about 10 minutes walk to the beach and about 15 minutes into town. There is an hourly bus service into town but no bus service on a Sunday. We have not tried the meals at the Lodge but there seems to be plenty of choice. We were pleasantly surprised at the price we paid for such excellent facilities and will most certainly be booking more holidays there. Although it is a little way out of the town centre, it is in a nice quiet location.
We were in Room 40 in the annexe on our second visit. The room was lovely and spacious and well serviced each day. The only drawback was being above the front door which was constantly banging on a night but don't know if there is anything that can be done to improve that?
The staff could not do enough to help with any questions or queries we had. They were always friendly and approachable.
The room we had was far too hot but we did receive a fan when we mentioned this. It is a good walk from the town so not ideal if you do not like walking or cannot walk far.
Decent sized room, clean and easily accessible., Friendly staff
We really enjoyed a lot our stay. Very nice staff and lovely place to have a holiday.
The room and en-suite facilities were clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly. The breakfasts were excellent, lots to eat and at a very reasonable rate.
While we were led to belive through Booked.net that evening meals were available at the hotel they no longer provide this service. However this was only a minor niggle (the generous breakfasts made up for this) as we stayed out all day and were plenty of places to eat in town.
Our room was spotless, though compact, it was big enough to fit a travel cot and still able to walk around the bed. Not a problem for us as we didn't plan on being in the room other than to sleep. The location is very quite and just what we wanted with a 5 month baby. Very close to the Scarborough's South Sand beach and town centre, no more than 5 - minutes walk.
Price fantastic , staff helpful, mattresses really lumpy , room smelled damp, but you get what you pay for, thin walls, so no chance of a lie in, but you can park there so you save on parking charges! The breakfasts were fine, although at £7 each works out mega expensive for 4, ended up going to McDonalds , saved £20!
Lumpy mattresses, smell of damp in room , very thin walls
Room not very clean and rather basic - it lacked space and lights did nto work. Shower did not work well , and leaked. Not a fresh smell at all either in room or corridor .Car park rather tight for parking and no spaces one evening .Reported the shower not working - but not fixed.
There was an on site car park
Breakfast was described as "hearty" which was an exaggeration at best. Everything about breakfast was poor, from the horrible plastic tablecloths to the quality and size of the portions. The cook should be re-trained. Even the average housewife could produce better food than we were served up. We tried to change our order as we had paid in advance but nothing made up for poor cooking. We were surprised that the Bistro was not open in the evening (and apparently had not been open for some time even though the information given contradicted that) but after sampling the first breakfast we were glad to go elsewhere. Two of us were in a largeish family room but there was little wardrobe space and the tv was so high that watching it was a challenge. All in all the hotel is definitely not one we will return to nor recommend to anyone else.
The location was good, not too far from the sea. The staff were really friendly and informative. What I really liked was the breakfast, such good value for money, lots to eat, fantastic.
The room above ours had squeaky floorboards so when the occupants were walking about you had constant squeaking, which at times became annoying.
